More Reviews: Two International Reviews on the Hana Umami Red Phono Cartridge
Hana has become one of the stars in high value analog reproduction with their overachieving series of moving coil cartridges in the $475 to $1200 range. Their new top-line cartridge is called Umami Red ($3950), and significantly raises the bar at Hana.
The cartridge body, shaped like the outer ear, is Duralumin with a lacquer finish and an ebony wood inlay. The coils are hand-wound copper, a samarium/cobalt magnet, and a nude microline stylus bonded to a solid Boron cantilever. Internal impedance is 6Ω and the output is .4mV.
