The Hana Umami Red Phono Cartridge

Hana, which has become one of the true high value stars in analog reproduction with their overachieving series of moving coil cartridges in the $475 to $1200 range, has announced their first super high end design called Umami Red ($3950, shipping next week). 

First, the name: Umami, officially coined in 1908: a very pleasing or intensely delicious flavor on the palette. 

The cartridge body, shaped like the outer ear, is Duralumin with a lacquer finish and an ebony wood inlay. The coils are hand-wound copper, a samarium/cobalt magnet, and a nude microline stylus bonded to a solid Boron cantilever. Internal impedance is 6Ω and the output is .4mV.

Based on what they have done with their more affordable designs we are excited to hear what Hana can accomplish in this hand-built statement design!
