The Expanded English Electric 16Switch Ethernet Switch

Another product ideally suited to expansive systems is the new 16Switch ($1500), a 16 port Ethernet Switch from The Chord Company under their sister brand, "English Electric."

The first product in the new English Electric brand was a high quality Ethernet Switch called 8Switch($595). The 8Switch starts with the assumption that typical ethernet distribution boxes are designed for computers ignoring audiophile concepts of isolation, shielding, and the importance of the power supply. Starting with the basics, unlike typical ethernet switches where all ports are two way, for isolation purposes in the 8Switch one port is designed as in-only and the rest as out-only - what a concept!

The new 16Switch is basically 2x 8Switches in one chassis, each bank with its own power supply, for use where more than 8 ports are needed.

Like the 8Switch the unit is built into an aluminum case which helps with isolation, and uses a well-shielded medical grade power supply.

The more we learn about data transmission via Ethernet, the more we know that noise issues are critical to audio performance. These quality switches seem like a no-brainer.
