Nordost's QPoint Synchronizer and QSource Linear Power Supply
Two 2019 product releases from Nordost, which we have recently had more time to better appreciate, are the QPoint Resonance Synchronizer ($749.99) and its natural companion/upgrade, the QSource Linear Power Supply ($2499.99), which has some excellent additional applications unrelated to the QPoint. The QPoint is a device which will synchronize the electromechanical resonances in a component on which, or under which, the QPoint is placed. This takes about 10 seconds and serves to make the internal devices creating these resonances more efficient, and quieter in terms of distortion. The result is enhanced musicality and soundstaging with improved and more natural detail retrieval. There are two settings to allow for fine-tuning for acoustic vs. "rock” music preferences, and/or digital vs. analog.

This synchronization effect is well known in the wider world, especially its impact on electrical and mechanical devices. As an example here is a 1 minute UCLA-sourced video showing the spontaneous synchronization of 5 metronomes.

The QPoint is powered by a common switching power supply - an external AC/DC adapter. These are cheap and cheerful, but not the last word in power supplies either for the QPoint, or (especially) when used with audio electronics such as DAC's, music servers, some phono stages, etc. which are sensitive to the high frequency noise generated by switch mode supplies. This is where the QSource Linear Power Supply comes in.
The QSource is a sophisticated, fanless, transformer-based AC input/DC output power supply. There are 6 outlets, 4 of which are fixed at 5v, which is the voltage needed for the QPoints, and 2 of which have variable output settings ranging from 9v to 24v for use with non-Nordost audio electronics. This power supply is like oxygen-enriched blood for your components which otherwise use these external brick switching power supplies. Highly recommended especially for high resolution systems.

Cables for the QSource are purchased a la carte and come in two quality levels (basically a difference in conductor gauge) with 3 choices for connectors at the component end: Lemo, 2.5mm, or 2.1mm.
