Shunyata Releases Venom 16 AC Line Conditioner

Shunyata's newest and most affordable AC line conditioner is the Venom 16 ($1998). Sporting 16 outlets in 2 separate 8 outlet zones to allow for separation of digital components from analog, or theater components from music systems, this device passes 20A of continuous current. Given the number of outlets it is especially well-suited to elaborate 2 channel or theater systems.

The Venom 16 incorporates many of the technologies developed for Shunyata's higher end AC conditioners including their multistage filtration to isolate the outlets, and therefore the components, from each other. This "chatter" over the AC lines between components in the system is an often overlooked source of low level noise influencing everything from detail resolution to stereo imaging.

Internal wiring is Shunyata's high purity copper in the "virtual hollow tube" geometry they call VTX. Connections avoid solder, instead using a superior sonic welding technique to bond the metals.

An electromagnetic breaker is used for protection, and much care has been taken to control spurious resonances. 

Taken together this is an outstanding offering in the under $2k category from an industry leader, especially for systems where a large number of components are in use.
